The passport application fee is $210, payable to the Consulate General of Sweden, when submitting an application at the Consulate General of Sweden in New York.
A passport must be picked up by the applicant personally, It cannot be mailed.
As of January 4, 2010, all passport applicants must apply in person at the Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC in order to be digitally photographed and fingerprinted at the time of the application, or apply at a Swedish consulate through the mobile passport service. Regular passport applications cannot normally be submitted in New York. However, the Consulate General in New York does accept a limited number of applicants for regular passports by appointment on certain dates throughout the year, as part of a mobile service administered by the Embassy of Sweden. The dates for 2012 are now available.In all cases, applicants may choose to pick up newly issued passports and identity cards at the Consulate General in New York.A processing fee of $20 applies when picking up a newly issued passport at the Consulate General of Sweden in New York. Accepted payment methods are credit/debit card and cash, as well as money order or certified bank check, payable to the Consulate General of Sweden. Children or other applicants who do not already have a Swedish passport must be added to the Swedish population register before applying. If your passport is lost or stolen and you need to replace it immediately to travel within the next few days, you may apply for a temporary emergency passport. Always contact the Consulate General directly to confirm open hours and make an appointment when applying for an emergency passport. Applicants will need to provide proof of identity, if possible, as well as two passport photos.
