Application fee: $80

For pick-up of the new passport at a consular location other than the one at which the application was submitted, there are additional shipping, handling and processing fees totaling $30.

The fee for an emergency or provisional passport is $180.

Swedish Passport Application and Name Registration

Passport application procedures changed in 2007 to increase the security of travel documents. As of March 1, 2007, all passport applicants at the Consulate General of Sweden in New York must be digitally photographed on site at the time of the application. In conjunction, applications may no longer be submitted at the honorary consulates in the New York consular district.

Passport applicants must apply in person at the Consulate General in New York or Los Angeles, or at the Embassy in Washington DC.

Different instructions and requirements apply for:

Children or other applicants who do not already have a Swedish passport must be added to the Swedish population register before applying.

The application fee is $80 and must be paid with a money order or certified bank check, payable to Consulate General of Sweden.  The Consulate General of Sweden in New York also accepts payment by Visa or MasterCard.

The new passport may be picked up at any Swedish consulate in the United States.  For pick-up of the new passport at a consular location other than the one at which the application was submitted, there is a fee of $20 for shipping and handling (payable at time of application) as well as a $10 processing fee (payable at pick-up).
