Location and Visiting Hours

The Consulate General of Sweden in New York is located at One Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, at the intersection of 48th Street and Second Avenue in Manhattan, just a short walk from Grand Central Station and a few blocks from the United Nations Headquarters.

For passport and visa applications, the consular reception is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon, as well as Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm.  It is closed on Wednesdays and official holidays.  As of December 1, the reception will also be closed on Tuesdays.

The Consulate General will close early at 3 pm on November 25 and remain closed on November 26 and 27 in observance of Thanksgiving.

All visitors must enter from the building from the 48th Street entrance.  Parking is available in the building, with the garage entrance on 47th Street between Second and Third Avenues.

Our main telephone number is 212-583-2550.  The switchboard is open on weekdays from 9 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm.

Questions about visas, residence and work permits are answered at 212-583-2555 between 2 and 3 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays only.

The Swedish Government has decided to close the Consulate General in New York in January 2010 and to open an honorary consulate general.
