Trade with Sweden

The Embassy opened in early 2002. It covers three countries in the Gulf region. The United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Qatar.

One of the priorities of the Embassy is to promote and encourage Swedish export, business, tourism and investment interests, as well as to enhance and support bilateral relations between Sweden and the three regional countries.

The Commercial Section of the Embassy has good local market experience and an extensive network in the region, and has a close co-operation with the Swedish Trade Council (Exportrådet) office in Dubai and the Swedish Business Council (SBC) in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The Embassy also works with the Swedish industry, the Swedish Trade Council, the Chambers of Commerce, Invest in Sweden Agency, Swedish Travel & Tourism Council and other government, private organizations and companies.

The Commercial Section together with the Swedish Trade Council office in Dubai and the Swedish Business Council (SBC) is prepared to assist both Swedish companies and local companies who are looking for business opportunities and bilateral partnerships. Information of General nature is provided free of charge. More comprehensive information and services are provided on assignment basis from Swedish Trade Council (Exportrådet) and are subject to a charge.

The range of services that can be provided by the Swedish Trade Council to Swedish companies, manufacturers and exporters, both to the companies who already have existing business relations in the region, and to the companies that are seeking to do business in the region includes:

• Resourceful information on the local market and business opportunities
• Advice and guidance on the applicable regulations and procedures for doing business and setting up in the region
• Identify qualified local business links, leads, counterparts and agents
• Arrange visiting programs and facilitate initial contact and introduction
• Information on trade fairs and exhibitions taking place in the region, and co-ordinate the Swedish company participation in such events
• other services on request

Companies in UAE, Bahrain and Qatar who are interested in dealing with Sweden, importing from Sweden and investing in Sweden, can also avail themselves of the services of the Embassy’s Commercial Section, which includes:

• Sourcing Swedish products, technologies, services, manufacturers and exporters
• Information on selected industry sectors and identifying sources of sector-specific information
• Information on trade fairs and exhibitions taking place in Sweden
• Information on investments in Sweden - market information, information on the advantages of investing in Sweden.
