Consul General Torkel Stiernlöf
Mr. Torkel Stiernlöf joined the Swedish Foreign Service in 1988. He has served at the Embassies in Baghdad, Iraq and Cairo, Egypt and at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York during Sweden’s term at the Security Council 1997-98. His postings at the MFA in Stockholm include, inter alia, the UN Department as head of UN Policy and Peace-keeping affairs and as Director at the Middle East and North Africa Department. In 2002-2003, he was Special Adviser to Dr. Hans Blix, Chairman of the UN Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission for Iraq (UNMOVIC).
Mr. Stiernlöf has a B.A. in political science from the University of Lund, Sweden, and training as an officer in the reserve of the Swedish Air Force.
He is married with two daughters.
