Being a market economy with a port that lets 99 % of all goods to come in duty-free, Singapore is one of the most liberal countries in the world when it comes to trading regulations.

Singapore is part of the Asean Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) and it also has Free Trade Agreements with Australia, EFTA, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Panama, Peru, Transpacific SEP (Brunei, New Zealand, Chile, Singapore), USA and most recently with China and The Gulf Co-operation Council.

Singapore is currently negotiating possible agreements with Canada, Mexico, Pakistan, Ukraine amongst others.
