Singapore is a well developed country, about half the size of Öland, and the population consists of over four million people with different heritage. The fascinating history of the country contributes to the international atmosphere and cultural diversity.
Situated not far from the equator in the middle of South East Asia, Singapore has a tropical climate. Despite having a highly sophisticated infrastructure, Singapore is called "the Garden City" because of its many parks and the lush vegetation.
The strategic location and the hardworking population have contributed to Singapore’s rapid economic growth over the past 40 years. The country has one of the busiest harbours in the world, and has established itself as a financial and commercial centre in Asia. It is home to over 7000 multinational corporations which use Singapore as a base for their business operations. Singapore is considered a gateway to other parts of Asia and it is easy to travel to and from the country.
There is a Swedish community in Singapore of about 1700 people and around 200 Swedish related companies that are active not only in the country, but in the whole region.
