Visa applications from Maldives

Applicant seeking for Schengen Visa at the Swedish Embassy in New Delhi have following options to submit the application:

• To forward application through courier.
• To visit personally to Embassy in New Delhi.
• To submit application with VFS in New Delhi.
• Applicants from Maldives can submit Schengen visa applications (C-visa short stay) with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka. All visa applications are to be submitted to VFS in No 120 A, Havelock Road, Colombo 5, Sri Lanka.

Schengen Visa Fee: Uniform visa fee of USD 85 in the form of demand draft is payable at the time of forwarding application through courier from Maldives. The demand draft should draw in favour of “Embassy of Sweden (Visa)" payable in New Delhi. A person who wish to submit application personally at the Embassy or with VFS in New Delhi can make the payment in Indian currency.

Category C = Stay not exceeding 90 days (single/double/multiple) 
 
Visa application fee, which is non-refundable in case of refusal, should be submitted along with the visa application.   
 
Interview: Requirement of personal interview is made only after assessment of the application by the Embassy Official and may differ from case to case. Incase personal interview is required Embassy will inform the applicant preferably by email. Please enclose email address in application form or in covering letter If the decision is taken without personal interview then the Embassy will inform applicant to submit passport through courier for necessary endorsement.

Interpreter: If applicant prefer to speak in any other language other than Hindi or English, please inform us as soon as possible so that an interpreter can be arranged.

Incomplete Application: It is important that applicant must submit application along with all relevant documents as mentioned  in the checklist:

Incomplete application runs high possibility of immediate rejection.

A current passport must be valid for at least three months longer than the intended stay. Note:- Applicants from Maldives must submit copy of the entire passport (bio page to last cover of the passport).

All applicants must be able to prove that he/she has a valid personal travel insurance which covers costs of emergency treatment by a doctor, urgent ambulance transportation and transportation back to his/her home country if required for medical reasons. The insurance should be valid in all Schengen countries and cover costs amounting to at least € 30 000.

Minimum processing time for correct and complete visa application is:

Schengen visas – tourism/visit family and friends 15 days
