Step-by-step guide to hand in your application for residence permit based on family reunification

Find below a step-by-step guide on how to apply for residence permit to Sweden. For applicants not residing in Kenya, please contact the Embassy for more information on how to apply.

1) Download the application form for residence permit or collect it at the Embassy. Fill out your application. Make sure to fulfil all the requirements.

2) Visit the Embassy during opening hours for residence permits. Bring the filled out application form and the required documents to find out how much your application fee is. You can visit the Embassy personally or send a representative to find out the fee.

3) Pay the application fee at CfC Stanbic Bank. Keep your bank deposit slip and submit when you are applying for your residence permit.

4) Applications for residence permit must be submitted personally. See opening hours for residence permit. Bring the application, the required documents and the bank deposit slip. The application will be registered and a check made that all required documents have been provided.

5) When you give in your application you will be given a time for an interview. If you miss your interview appointment you have to contact the Embassy immediately to make a new appointment or the application will be sent to the Migration Board without the required interview.

6) When the interview is completed the application will be sent to the Swedish Migration Board for further investigation and decision.
