Consideration of applications

Applications concerning residence, study and work permits are considered by the Migration Board in Sweden.
  
Questions regarding residence, study or work permits should be addressed directly to the Migation Board in Sweden.
 

Visits longer than 90 days

If you wish to stay in Sweden for more than 90 days you can apply for a residence permit for visit. It is the Migration Board in Sweden who decides on residence permits and the process might take longer than a normal visa. It will, however, allow you to stay in the Schengen area for more than 90 days.

IMPORTANT: Please note that as of June 2011 all applicants have to make an appointment with the Embassy before visiting. More information regarding this can be found under "News from the Visa Section".


Before handing in the applications to the Embassy, the application fee must have been paid in Vietnamese Dong to the Embassy's account at the ANZ Bank, account nr VND 6143432, account name: Embassy of Sweden-UM.

 (The fee is non-refundable and can be checked in the Application fees list).

The following documentation is required and should be submitted to the Embassy when applying.

Please note that the Vietnamese documents 6-9 should be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (40 Tran Phu Street, Hanoi), or the External Relations Service in Ho Chi Minh City (6 Bvd Alexander De Rhodes, HCMC). In addition, a notarised English translation of each document should be handed in.

1) two application forms for a visitor's permit, completed in English or Swedish, dated and signed by the applicant

2) two family details appendix (one for each application)

3) two passport size photos taken with a light background

4) passport or other travel document with a validity of at least three months after departure from Sweden

5) two photocopies of the biometric page of the passport (one of each application)

6) two copies of your birth certificate, original must be presented 

7) proof of kinship with the referent is Sweden (if applicable), original must be presented 

8) two copies of the household book, original must be presented 

9) two copies of marriage/divorce certificate (if applicable), original must be presented 

10) proof of support during your stay in Sweden. If the referent will pay for your upkeep, this should be noted in the invitation and supported by proof of income.

10) invitation from referent in Sweden (original plus one copy). The appendix should not be older than 3 months.

The referent in Sweden must send the invitation and/or other documents directly to the applicant, who will submit them together with the application when visiting the Embassy.

11) two copies of civic registration (personbevis) from the referent - not older than 3 months

* The Embassy reserves the right to ask for further documentation if needed.

The application, together with a short interview, will be forwaded by the Embassy to the Migration Board for processing.
