Committee on the Right of the Child examined Swedish forth periodic report

The 27th May the Committee on the Rights of the Child reviewed the fourth report of Sweden on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Swedish delegation was lead by Karin Johansson, state secretary at Ministry of Health and Social Affairs and also included representatives from Ministry of Health and Socials Affairs; Ministry of Justice; Ministry of Education and Research and the Permanent Mission of Sweden to the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Jul 2 2009 Outcome of the Human Rights Council’s eleventh session
On June 18 2009, the Human Rights Council closed its eleventh regular session, adopting texts on issues including maternal mortality, violence against women, trafficking in persons, the right to education, the effects of foreign debt and the rights of migrants. The Council also established a new mandate of the Independent Expert on human rights in Sudan and an Open-ended Working Group of the Human Rights Council to explore the possibility of elaborating an Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Next session of the Human Rights Council will be held in September.
