In her opening remarks, Ms Marie Ottosson, the Head of the Development Cooperation Section at the Embassy of Sweden, confirmed that the Joint Anti-Corruption Meeting is initiated by the Embassy in order to offer a new meeting place for all actors involved in anti-corruption. She added: “A meeting as such is a forum beyond the formal Anti-Corruption Dialogue for both the development partners and the Government of Vietnam. We want to be on top of what is happening in the anti-corruption work and we also want to share information between the donors and the Government of Vietnam. As a lead donor, Sweden wants to be inclusive and transparent.”It is tentatively scheduled that the next Anti-Corruption Dialogue will be held on 3 December 2009 and the planned theme will be anti-corruption in the health sector. The participants to the meeting highlighted the need to have the Ministry of Health involved in the preparations in order to ensure the success of the Dialogue. Social organisations and civil society should also be considered as invitees.The next Joint Anti-Corruption Meeting will be in November.Anti-corruption Dialogue is a forum for an open and frank exchange between the Government of Vietnam, its anti-corruption agencies and the international development partners in order to increase the efficiency of the cooperation and the prevention of corruption. Sweden has been invited by the Government to act as lead donor of development partners to organise this forum. It is organised twice a year prior to the Consultative Group Meetings in June and December.
