As part of the 2009 programme to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Sweden and Vietnam, the Green Solutions event in early October will offer an opportunity for Swedish and Vietnamese actors from the public and private sectors as well as non-governmental organisations involving in different environmental technologies to meet and discuss business ideas and potential cooperation.

In Vietnam, the impacts of rapid economic expansion and urbanisation become evident, and environmental concerns are more pressing than ever. There is a consensus in the scientific community that Vietnam is among the top ten counties most heavily affected by global climate change.

Since the 1990s, the Swedish economy has grown by 44 percent, while green house gas emissions have been reduced by nine percent. Swedish environment technology, solutions and know-how are today very competitive from both European and global perspectives.

There is much to be gained, both from Vietnamese and a Swedish point of view, to co-operate more within this area as Vietnam continues to develop rapidly.

Some 30 Swedish companies and organisations have registered to take part in the event. Interests from many relevant Vietnamese actors has also been confirmed.
