EU-Canada Transatlantic Dialogue Meeting

On October 1st the President of the Council of the European Union and Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Carl Bildt was in Ottawa to hold transatlantic talks with the Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Honourable Lawrence Cannon.

Minister Cannon saw it as a great opportunity to address a wide range of common international concerns, as an expression of the strategic and diverse relationship that Canada shares with the EU.

Key current issues were discussed such as the Middle East peace process, Iran, Honduras, Sudan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Both the Foreign Ministers also reaffirmed a commitment to work towards a sucessful UN Conference on Climate Change in Copenhagen in December. Another topic touched upon was the Arctic.
