    The Consulate General of Sweden in Los Angeles will close on November 20, 2009. The Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C. will take over those functions that only a careeer mission can handle. All other consulate matters will continue to be taken care of by the Honorary Consulates in the region.

    July 23, 2009, Los Angeles, CA. The Swedish Government today decided to close the Consulate General in Los Angeles, along with the Consulates General of New York, Kaliningrad and Canton. Sweden's Embassy in Colombo will also be closed.

ESTA will initially be available in English only. Other languages will follow. Effective January 12, 2009, all VWP travelers will be required to obtain an electronic travel authorization prior to boarding a carrier to travel by air or sea to the U.S. under the VWP.
