Full participation, inclusion and empowerment of people with disabilities in Europe will top the agenda at a conference to be held in Strasbourg, on 29 and 30 October. The conference is under the aegis of the Swedish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The chairperson of the conference is Ms Maria Larsson, Swedish minister for elderly care and public health.
The event aims to promote the recognition and application of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the implementation of the Council of Europe Disability Action Plan 2006 - 2015.
The conference includes speeches, workshops and plenary sessions aiming to highlight examples of good practices of social protection for people with disabilities and promote international co-operation at governmental and non-governmental level.
