The Swedish Ministers for justice and migration to visit the European Court for Human Rights

The 23rd of October, Beatrice Ask – the Swedish Minister of Justice, and Tobias Billström – the Swedish Minister for Migration visit the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg.

The ministers will meet with Josep Casadevall, president of the third section of the court, Elisabet Fura Sandström, the court’s Swedish judge, and Erik Fribergh, the court’s registrar.

The focus of the visit is the European Convention for Human Rights and the monitoring of its observance. The workload in the court is extremely high which obstructs the right to get a decision on a complaint within a reasonable period of time. Sweden has addressed the need for reforms and works to make the Court more effective.
