The following three have been decorated:
Yukio Yogo, who actively has contributed to develop the business cooperation between Japan and Sweden. He worked for many years in the Toyota group and played a pivotal role when Toyota bought the Swedish BT Industries in the year 2000.
Professor Tomiya, Kyoto university, who for nearly twenty years has been one of the leading forces in Japan advocating a stronger research collaboration with Sweden on the field of humanities and social science. Spring 2008, Tomiya conducted, together with Swedish fellow researchers, a broad focused seminar at the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo, on the theme death penalty in East Asia through a historical perspective.
Akirako Hishiki has for many years been translating Swedish child and youth literature from Swedish to Japanese. Several Swedish children's book authors have had their books translated by Akirako Hishiki, among others Astrid Lindgren, Elsa Beskow, Ulf Stark and Jockum Nordström. In 2007 she completed a new translation of "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" by Selma Lagerlöf into Japanese.
The order was handed over by ambassador Stefan Noreén at a ceremony in the ambassador’s residence July 6th.
