Launch of the Swedish Presidency

Sweden took over the Presidency of the European Union the 1st of July. The same day, a press conference was held at the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo attended by some 20 interested Japanese journalists.

The Swedish Ambassador to Japan, Stefan Noreén, began the press conference by presenting the Swedish priorities for the Presidency that will last the coming six months. Also present was Hugh Richardson, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Commission to Japan. Ambassador Richardson made comments and helped answering the many questions asked by the curious journalists.
