The solar power on the roof of the Secondary School of Technical Professions in Šiška in Ljubljana is an excellent example of the use of renewable sources of energy. As explained by the headmaster of the school, Mr. Zdravko Žalar, the solar power plant is included into the network of certified qualified power plants of the electricity system of the Republic of Slovenia. The plant serves for the education of students, certification training for adults, as a workshop for students and teachers and general promotion of the usefulness of solar power plants. The power plant is owned by the investor, Elektro Ljubljana dd. Its investment value is around € 160,000.
The second project, visited by the Ambassadors is the district wood biomass heating system in Kočevje, which received financial and technical support within the framework of the Global Environment Facility project. The project goal was to replace fuel oil with wood biomass at an existing district heating system, improve air quality, reduce CO2 emissions, enlarge the district heating system and reduce the price of heating energy
