On 3rd of February, the four Nordic ambassadors invited representatives of research, administration and business in Slovenia to discuss what can be done to further reinforce cross border e-Region development. See report to the right.

Oct 29 2009 Swedish and Slovene A Cappella Groups Joining Forces
The Embassy of Sweden, The Representation of European Commission in Slovenia and Slovene a cappella group Perpetuum Jazzile held the press conference on October 28 in Ljubljana presenting the Swedish Slovene cultural event which will mark Sweden´s EU Presidency. Three concerts by the Slovene ensemble Perpetuum Jazzile and their Swedish counterpart The Real Group will be held from November 1 to November 3 in Cankarjev dom and have been sold out for more than two months.

Together with the Norwegian Embassy, Ambassador Inger Ultvedt today hosted a networking lunch on the theme ”Women and Politics”. Attending the luncheon, were several Slovene women ministers, state secretaries and female Ambassadors along with other leading women in Slovenia.

Sep 25 2009 Green Embassy
The Embassy of Sweden has, together with the Nordic Embassies, on an initiative from the Danish Embassy, decided to become a Green Embassy. With this project, the Embassies will cut their energy consumption and at the same time promote the upcoming global climate meeting in Copenhagen in December. Furthermore, it is hoped that it will lead to further cooperation between the Nordic countries as well as between the Nordic countries and Slovenia in the area of environment and climate change.
Sep 17 2009 Study tour on the theme of Energy and Climate on 16 September 2009
In the framework of the Swedish Presidency of the European Union, the Embassy of Sweden in Slovenia organised a study tour on the theme of Energy and Climate on September 16, 2009. The study tour was organised for Ambassadors and Deputy Heads of Missions of EU countries, EU Candidate countries and the Representation Office of the European Commission in Slovenia. The aim of the tour was to increase the awareness of the use of renewable sources of energy and to highlight some of the successful projects in Slovenia.

Jul 9 2009 Swedish Ambassador Ultvedt presented Presidency Priorities in the Slovene Parliament
Swedish Ambassador Inger Ultvedt presented Presidency Priorities at a joint session of the Committees on Foreign Policy and EU Affairs in the Slovene Parliament on July 3, 2009. Members of the two parliamentary bodies showed interest especially in Sweden’s relation to the border issue between Slovenia and Croatia.
Jul 2 2009 Opening Event for the Swedish Presidency of the Council of EU
On 1 July, Sweden took over the Presidency of the Council of European Union. The Embassy of Sweden in Ljubljana organised opening event in Center Evropa. The event was attended by some Slovene Ministers, Ambassadors, Representatives from Slovenian authorities, Media and Representation Office of European Commission in Slovenia.
Jun 24 2009 Increased fees for Swedish passports and national ID-cards
According to a decision of the Government in Sweden the fees for passports and national ID-cards will increase from 15 July 2009. The new fees only apply for applications made outside of Sweden.

Mar 13 2009 Stockholm won EU Green Capital Award 2010
On February 23 in Brussels, the European Commission announced the winners of its new environmental initiative: Stockholm and Hamburg became the first cities to be named European Green Capital. Stockholm will be European Green Capital in 2010, followed by Hamburg in 2011.

Dec 18 2008 International Trade Management (ITM) Worldwide diploma ceremony for the Slovene participants of year 2007- 08
The ITM Worldwide Concept originates from the Swedish Trade Council where the first training was launched in 1994. The concept has since then been developed into an international vocation training in trade called ITM Worldwide, together with trade organisations in Greece, Hungary, Norway, Iceland, Lithuania, Namibia, South Africa and Slovenia. Participants of the international trade management training are young employees working with export in a small and medium sized companies, having university degrees and a good knowledge of English.

The Embassy of Sweden and newspaper Le Monde Diplomatique (Slovenia) have prepared a special edition on Sweden. The edition will be issued on December 13 and will be attached to the largest Slovene daily newspaper Delo. Le Monde Diplomatique print run is between 80.000-90.000 copies on a monthly basis, reaching at least 220.000 readers in Slovenia.

Swedish Slovene Business Group is a group of business people with their economic interests in Sweden and Slovenia. The purpose of the Group is to exchange information, views and to create a business network and strengthen economic relations between Slovenia and Sweden.
Jan 9 2008 Slovenia enter into Schengen agreement
After midnight on the 21 December 2007 Slovenia, together with eight other new EU-members, (mentioned below) joined the Schengen cooperation. This means that controls of passports have been abolished between Slovenia and the other Schengen Member States when travelling by sea or by land. However, the control of passports remains in place until 29 March 2008 for individuals travelling by air.
