Explosion in Damascus

A heavy explosion took place in Damascus around 8 AM Saturday 27 September.

According to media reports, a car loaded with around 200 kilos of explosives detonated on the highway from Damascus towards the airport, close to an intersection leading to the suburb of Saida Zaynab. 17 people are reported dead and at least 14 wounded in the explosion.

The Embassy does not have information that any Swedes were among the victims of the explosion.
