BLUEGRASS FEST 2008 in Bratislava

3rd year of the international festival of bluegrass and acoustic music will be held this time in October, during Friday and Saturday October 10 - 11, 2008, at the same venue: culture house Zrkadlovy Haj in Bratislava - Petrzalka. We will see there 24 excellent bands from 7 countries playing various types of bluegrass and related music. The festival will host even a music guest from Sweden - the band called Lonesome Mountaineers.

Bluegrass is a musical genre originating in the USA, which arose as a mixture of musical customs of immigrants from various countries. Its characteristic musical instruments include the banjo, mandolin, violin, guitar, bass and dobro (note: the inventor of dobro – a rhesophonic guitar, John Dopyera, has Slovak origins), creating phenomenal instrumental performances, rich vocals and melodic songs. In the recent years traditional bluegrass has been supplemented with more modern features and has connected various styles such as country, folk, blues, jazz, rock, swing etc. In October you will have the chance to see and hear all of this at the concerts of great bands within the Bratislava BLUEGRASS FEST 2008 festival!
