OECD’s review of Sweden’s development co-operation - DAC Peer Review of Sweden

DAC (Development Assistance Committee) peer reviews (www.oecd.org/dac/peerreviews) are a central and unique OECD activity. The reviews monitor individual members' efforts and performance in the area of development co-operation. Each member is critically examined approximately once every four years; this way five or six programmes are examined annually.

According to the latest review Sweden is providing crucial leadership within the international donor community. It remains a leading advocate of increased aid flows to developing countries, and has led by example with aid allocations exceeding the UN target of 0.7% of GNI every year since 1975 and reaching 0.98% in 2008. Sweden has budgeted for its aid to reach 1% of its GNI in 2009.
