The EU restates its opposition to the death penalty

On 10 October, the International Day against the Death Penalty, the Swedish Ambassador to Uganda Anders Johnson, representing the EU Presidency, published an opinion piece in major newspapers repeating EU's longstanding opposition to the death penalty.

The Ambassador also welcomed Uganda's de facto suspension on executions and called for the Government of Uganda to abolish the death penalty.
