EU - Jordan dialogue

The EU Heads of Missions in Jordan met on Tuesday 27 October with Prime Minister Nader Dahabi and the Jordanian Ministers of Planning & International Cooperation, Trade & Industry, and Finance.

The meeting focused on the relationsship between EU and Jordan, including ongoing discussions on how to further enhance the partnership. During the meeting the Jordanian Prime Minister and his colleagues from the cabinet also informed about the current economic situation in Jordan and social, political an environmental issues were discussed.

November 9, the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated at the al-Hussein Cultural Centre in Amman. The evening started with a reception given by the German Ambassador, which was followed by speeches by the German, Swedish and Hungarian Ambassador, as well as by the head of the French cultural centre Le Centre and Chargé d’Affaires of the EC delegation. The Swedish Embassy in Jordan was opened in 1981. The first Swedish ambassador was officially accredited to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1981 and the first Ambassador based in Amman was appointed in 1986. Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia paid a state visit to Jordan in 1989.
