The Embassy of Sweden takes part in the Annual Diplomatic Bazaar

Diplomatic missions from 63 countries turned up October 10 at Amman Exhibitions Park, ready to sell handicrafts, textiles and national cuisines for the support of a good cause and the opportunity to display their countries’ special products.

Together with fellow Scandinavian countries, the Embassy of Sweden was selling waffles, cookies and cakes to help raise funds for the Mabarrat Um Al-Hussein Orphanage, inaugurated by HRH Princess Basma Bint Talal. According to the princess ‘The proceeds of previous bazaars have made a difference in the lives of thousands of young boys.’

‘Participating in the bazaar has many good reasons, contributing to a good cause and highlighting Scandinavian culture are two of them’, the Swedish Embassy’s deputy head of mission, Daniel Pettersson, said.

The first Swedish ambassador was officially accredited to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1981 and the first Ambassador based in Amman was appointed in 1986. Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia paid a state visit to Jordan in 1989.
