The start of the new parliamentary working year

The new parliamentary working year started on Tuesday with the opening of the 2009/10 Riksdag session.

At the request of the Speaker, the King declared the session open. The Prime Minister then presented the Statement of Government Policy.

November 9, the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated at the al-Hussein Cultural Centre in Amman. The evening started with a reception given by the German Ambassador, which was followed by speeches by the German, Swedish and Hungarian Ambassador, as well as by the head of the French cultural centre Le Centre and Chargé d’Affaires of the EC delegation. The first Swedish ambassador was officially accredited to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1981 and the first Ambassador based in Amman was appointed in 1986. Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia paid a state visit to Jordan in 1989.
