The fall of the Berlin Wall
November 9, the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated at the al-Hussein Cultural Centre in Amman. The evening started with a reception given by the German Ambassador, which was followed by speeches by the German, Swedish and Hungarian Ambassador, as well as by the head of the French cultural centre Le Centre and Chargé d’Affaires of the EC delegation. A short documentary of the rise and fall of the Berlin wall was screened after this.

EU - Jordanian conference on Climate Change "Way to Copenhagen" 8 November
The the Embassy of Sweden (acting as the Presidency of the European Union), in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Environment, the European Commission and the Jordan Europe Business Association (JEBA) arranged a conference "Way to Copenhagen” , on climate change at Colombia University Middle East Research Center, on November 8th.

Conference on Strengthening the Role of Women in Society
On November 1st the Jordanian National Commission for Women (JNCW) and the Swedish EU Presidency in Amman, in cooperation with the European Commission, arranged a conference on "Strengthening the Role of Women in Society". Visit by the Swedish Migration and Asylum Minister

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Amman, Jordan
The Swedish Embassy in Jordan was opened in 1981. The first Swedish ambassador was officially accredited to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1981 and the first Ambassador based in Amman was appointed in 1986. Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia paid a state visit to Jordan in 1989.
