Processing of Migration Applications

Information regarding visas, residence permits and student residence permits

Processing Time for Visas

Due to new member states in the Schengen area, the processing time for visas will be minimum ten (10 ) working days or more.

Residence Permit for Studies in Sweden

The Embassy strongly advices all our applicants to visit the Migrations Board’s website on www.migrationsverket.se/english.jsp for the latest information about the rules and regulations about residence permit for studies in Sweden.

According to information from the Migration Board, you cannot expect to receive a decision in time for the commencement of your programme if your application:

- is not fully complete or,
- arrives at the Migration Board when there is less than six weeks remaining before commencement of the programme even if you received late notification of enrolment.

IMPORTANT! Before proceeding with applying for a visa or residence permit, or buying your I-card, please check on WHEN there is a slot available for interview at the Embassy.

There is currently a considerable congestion time for booking interviews for all kinds of migration applications. At this time of the year there is a peak in migration matters being processed by the Embassy. As a result, the waiting time for interviews is longer than usual.

In order to cut down on the waiting time for interviews, we have from June 11 more than doubled the number of interview slots available every day. If you have already booked an appointment you are welcome to reschedule your time slot if you so wish.

Any false statements or documents will lead to your application being rejected or to the annulment of the visa already granted, and may also render you liable to prosecution under the law of the Schengen State which deals with the application. The information will be passed on to the other Schengen embassies and consulates.
