Follow the Presidency’s largest meeting online

Many exciting and interesting international figures will take part in the European Development Days in Stockholm. The largest meeting of the Swedish Presidency will also be open to the public, and will address development issues in a broad perspective. The meeting is being jointly organised with the European Commission.

Among those attending will be Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Zimbabwe’s Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Economist George Soros, Nobel Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus and many, many others. The meeting will be opened by Crown Princess Victoria, and Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso will deliver opening addresses.

The overall theme of the meeting is ‘Citizenship and Development’ and will focus on three topics: democracy, climate change and the economic crisis.

The Swedish Trade Council (STC) organised a two-day Mining Conference that brought together Mining partners from Sweden, Namibia and Botswana. Presentations and discussions proved fruitful as they centred on the latest technologies, training programmes from Sweden and other expertise from all countries.
