Boyle and George E. Smith (USA) "for the invention of an imaging semiconductor circuit - the CCD sensor".
The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009 goes to Venkatraman Ramakrishnan (United Kingdom), Thomas A. Steitz (USA) and Ada E. Yonath (Israel) "for studies of the structure and function of the ribosome".
