‘A tribute to Europe’- two Swedish pianists in Romania

World-renowned Swedish pianists Peter and Patrik Jablonski are hosting two concerts in Romania: in Bucharest on November 29th and in Sibiu on November 30th

The program of the recitals includes works of Mozart, Liszt, Grieg, Chopin, Enescu and Lutoslawski.

In Bucharest the concert takes place at the ‘Nichita Stanescu’ Hall on Thursday, 29th of November 2007, at 7.00 pm and in Sibiu at the Thalia Hall at the Sibiu State Filarmonica on Friday, 30th of November 2007, at 7.00 pm.

Peter Jablonski

Peter Jablonski was born into a polish-swedish family in Sweden 1971. Already as a small child, he showed an interest in music and started to play drums and piano at the age of six. When Peter was nine he gave his first piano recital playing Mozart and Chopin. At age eleven he attended Malmö Music Academy. After graduation Peter toured with and also recorded Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto in G, K.453 with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Krakow. At only seventeen, Peter moved to London and as the youngest ever post-graduate, started to study at the Royal College of Music. Today he lives in London.

Peter has played with many of the worlds finest orchestras. In 1998 he won the Orpheus award for his world premiere performance of Kilar’s piano concerto at the Warsaw Autumn Festival. The same year, Peter was awarded the Royal Medal Litteris et Artibus’ by the King of Sweden.

Chamber music is a very important part of Peter’s music making. He has just recorded the Shostakovich at the QEH in 2007 as part of the International Chamber Music Series.

Patrik Jablonski

Patrik was born in Sweden 1974. He received his first piano lessons from his father when he was five and gave his first public performance one year later.

Patrik also played professional tennis for a couple of years for the “Team Mats Wilander”. During this time he also performed with a number of  orchestras in Sweden, including the Malmö Symphony and the Gävle Symphony. Like his brother, at the age of seventeen Patrik moved to London and started to study at the Royal College of Music. It was at this time it became obvious that he would devote his future to playing the piano.

Since graduation Patrik has performed with many famous orchestras all over the world. One highlight was playing at the Warsaw Autumn New Music Festival. Patrik very much enjoys the opportunity of getting to know and perform also more modern music by composers such as Messiaen, Poul Ruders and Wojciech Kilar.

Patrik often perform with his brother Peter and the two of them have played all over the world. Patrik is also the Artistic Director of the Mälar International Music Festival.
