Jungfraujoch - "Top of Europe" - welcomes EU Ambassadors

As part of the EU-presidency, Swedens Ambassador in Switzerland – Per Thöresson – invited EU ambassadors, ambassadors of the candidate countries as well as the EU delegation to visit the climate research station on the Jungfraujoch on Monday, 21st September.

The protection of the climate is one of the main priorities during Swedens EU-presidency. On the high altitude research station at 3’454 above sea level, the participants had an insight into some leading scientific work under extreme high alpine conditions. Director Erwin Flückiger presented – amongst others – a Belgian project. Mister Thomas F. Stocker – leading climate-scientist – also gave a very interesting presentation.

Ambassador Per Thöresson hopes, that the visit will help to gain consciousness for the problems of the climate change.

Swiss “Jungfrau Zeitung” accompanied the visit. Find more information (in german): http://www.jungfrauzeitung.ch/artikel/97732/
