HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden arrives in India

HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden arrives in New Delhi for a ten-day visit to India. She will attend the Sweden India Nobel Memorial Week 2008.

During her stay in India, the Crown Princess will also visit Agra to see the Taj Mahal, Pune, Mumbai and Jodhpur.

During her stay in India, the Crown Princess will call on Dr. Hamid Ansari Vice President of India, and Mr Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary, Congress Party and HH Maharaja Gaj Singh Ji of Jodhpur among other dignitaries. She will also visit some projects supported by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida).

After her meetings in New Delhi, HRH Crown Princess Victoria will visit Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri at Agra. After that she will proceed to Pune, where she will meet the Mayor and interact with the Swedish companies in the city. The programme in Mumbai includes a visit to the Bombay Stock Exchange. She will then proceed to Jodhpur.

About HRH Crown Princess Victoria

Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland, is the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, and was born on 14 July 1977.

The declaration of Crown Princess Victoria's majority took place in the Hall of State at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on 14 July 1995.

The Crown Princess will be Sweden's first female Head of State from the Bernadotte Dynasty. In modern times Sweden has only had two queens regnant, Kristina and Ulrika Eleonora.

Nature and outdoor activities, including walking and skiing, are among The Crown Princess's favourite pastimes.

The Crown Princess is interested in art and enjoys painting. She is also a great animal lover. Dogs are her favourite animals and she loves to take long walks with her labrador Jambo.
