Consulate General of Sweden in Guangzhou is closed since 30th of October

In accordance with a Swedish Government decision on 23 July 2009 to close the Swedish Consulate General in Guangzhou, the Consulate was closed to the public on Friday 30 October 2009.

The Swedish Embassy in Beijing has resumed the responsibility for the provinces of Guangdong, Fujian and Hainan, as well as for the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from 1st November 2009. Consular matters including applications for Swedish passports will be handled by the Embassy, as will applications for residence, work and studies in Sweden. Visa-matters, within the framework of the Schengen-agreement, have been taken over by the Royal Norwegian Consulate General of Guangzhou. For further information see the website of the Royal Norwegian Consulate General of Guangzhou.

Applicants who already have been granted residence permits or work and residence permits will after the closure have to go the Embassy in Beijing or to the Consulate General in Shanghai to have their permits issued. Due to these circumstances the processing time for work-and residence permit applications may be affected.
