Swedish films at the BFI London Film Festival

The BFI London Film Festival (14 - 29 October) is a highly regarded and anticipated event in Europe´s film calendar. Thousands of visitors enjoy films, special events, screen talks and master classes. This year Sweden is participating with five full length films as well as a number of shorts.

The Ape, directed by Jesper Ganslandt, is a fresh and disquieting tale of a day in the life of a deeply disturbed man. Burrowing, a debut feature by Henrik Hellström and Fredrik Wenzel, is inspired by the writings of Henry David Thoreau and seeks to explore ideas of self-reliance, solitude and contemplation. The Touch is a restored version of Ingmar Bergman´s triangle love drama. Metropia directed by Tarik Saleh is an innovative futuristic animation and the fifth feature film is The Eagle Hunter´s Son, a tale of a young nomad drawn to city life. It is directed by René Bo Hansen. In the short film category Sweden is represented by Lies, Alfred, Seeds of the Fall and Spot and Splodge in Snowstorm.

Originally commissioned by Swedish National Radio, ‘ The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman’ could be heard on BBC 6 Music on 8 November.
