The Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance was founded

In August 2009 the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance was founded. The Institute is a joint non-profit project initiated by Bonniers Business Press, Ernst & Young, Glimstedt, ISM University, NASDAQ OMX Baltic stock exchanges and The Swedish Chamber of Commerce. The Institute aims to improve awareness of good Corporate Governance in the Baltic region.

The institute has introduced an Executive Education for board members in co-operation with the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and with a curriculum based on “Corporate Governance Board Leadership Training Resources” from the International Finance Corporation/Global Corporate Governance Forum.

    Energy consumption in Lithuania per capita is three times higher than the average among EU15 countries. One of the priorities of the Lithuanian Government is energy saving and greater efficiency. The Nordic countries have a long experience in this area. Some examples are renovation and reconstruction of buildings for energy saving, district heating, low-energy and passive houses. The Nordic countries also have experience in legislation and the regulatory frameworks needed as well as communication with the public.

    The official website for Sweden's European Union Presidency, se2009.eu, is now up and running.

    The logo for the Swedish EU-presidency has been launched.
