On the evening of 12 December 2008, one of Sweden’s most loved traditions was celebrated at the Swedish Residence together with 150 guests consisting of a good mix of Indonesian guests, representatives of the international community in Jakarta, and Swedish citizens residing in Indonesia.

    The Swedish Government is currently carrying out extensive changes in order to make its development cooperation more efficient. In order to reflect these changes, a new strategy for Indonesia will be developed for the period 2009-2013 and will replace the current strategy (2005-2009).

    At the European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) which took place at Balai Kartini in Jakarta, 1-2 November 2008, Sweden was represented by the Swedish Embassy and the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). More than 10,000 well targeted visitors attended the two days fair.

    Olle Engström, member of Borås municipal executive committee and chairman of the municipal council, together with Professor Mohammad Taherzadeh from the University of Borås, visited Indonesia 12-31 October, 2008, in the framework of a project to transfer knowledge and expertise within waste disposal and recycling, to cities and universities in Indonesia. The visit commenced with a briefing to me and my colleagues at the Embassy of Sweden regarding the cooperation that the Municipal of Borås and the University of Borås are pursuing with the largest university in Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Java. The project, initiated in 2006, has hitherto received a positive response in Indonesia.

Rudiartha. She also met the Rector for the Insitute of Art in Bali, Professor Wayan Rai S, in order to discuss futher cooperation.
