The first event of the Swedish EU Presidency

Yesterday evening on July 1 the first event of the Swedish EU Presidency in Hungary took place at Gödör Klub.

After a brief address by Ambassador Cecilia Björner about the Swedish EU Presidency the Swedish group Kraja sang traditional Swedish tunes and some of their own songs.

  • Jul 30 2009 Consular Assistance for EU, Norwegian and Swiss citizens at the Sziget Festival 2009
    If you plan to visit the Sziget festival, which will be held from August 10-17 in Budapest, it might happen that you lose your bag, passport or other important documents. In some cases you will need to contact your Embassy for assistance.

    The Swedish pop group I’m from Barcelona will perform on the A38 ship in Budapest 26 May at 9 p.m. If you book in advance tickets cost 1500 forint and if you pay at the door tickets cost 2000 forint.

Sven Wollter plays the lead part as chief commissioner Van Veeteren in both movies, which are based upon the Swedish author Håkan Nesser’s novels about the police in the fictitious town of Maardam.

    Lukas Moodyson’s critically acclaimed movie “Together” (Együtt) is about life in a Swedish collective during the mid-1970’s. Elisabeth decides to leave her violent husband Rolf and takes her daughter Eva and her son Stefan with her to go and live with her brother Göran in a collective, together with people with leftist sympathies. Elisabeth slowly gets accustomed to the new model of society, while Stefan continues to miss his father, and Eva starts seeing a boy from the house across the street.

  • Feb 25 2009 Promotional event of Stieg Larsson’s trilogy Millenium
    At the beginning of March, the first part of Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millenium-trilogy – Men who hate women – will be published in Hungarian by Animus Publishing in Budapest.
  • Feb 17 2009 Swedish independent band on tour in Hungary
    IMMANU EL is a young Swedish band whose debut album “They’ll come, they come” was released in 2007 to rave reviews. Swedish newspaper METRO described the band as “One of the biggest Swedish pop-hopes right now.” IMMANU EL will tour extensively in Europe during 2009, and their eagerly expected second album will be recorded this summer.

    The Swedish writer of Hungarian origin Gellert Tamas will be the guest of the Artistic Director of the National Theatre, Róbert Alföldi at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 4 December 2008. His documentary novel, Lasermannen (The Laser Man – A story about Sweden) was published in Hungarian this year.
