Among the exhibitors was the publisher General Press, which publishes the books about Festus and Mercury (Pettson & Findus), who have become very popular in Hungary. In cooperation with the Embassy General Press had the pleasure to invite the creator of Festus and Mercury, Sven Nordqvist to the Book Festival where he signed his books for hundreds of families with children. First secretary Lars-Erik Tindre also attended the festival and held an opening speech. He also attended the award ceremony of the competition “Mercury was my guest” in which children from all over Hungary had drawn pictures on this theme. Over 1000 children had entered the competition by sending in their drawings. One of the prices was a boat trip on the Danube with Sven Nordqvist the same evening. Sven Nordqvist was one of the most appreciated children’s books authors at the International Book Festival.
