Swedish movies at the Budapest International Book Festival

On the 26 April the Swedish movies “Återkomsten” and “Kvinna med födelsemärke” will be shown at Skandináv Ház Alapítvány, VII. Klauzál tér 4. Sven Wollter plays the lead part as chief commissioner Van Veeteren in both movies, which are based upon the Swedish author Håkan Nesser’s novels about the police in the fictitious town of Maardam.

6 p.m. ”Återkomsten” (2001)
On a quiet morning in August, an alleged double murderer is released from prison. On a rainy day in April the following year a mutilated body is found in a ditch. Is there a connection? Chief commissioner Van Veeteren is confronted with a tragic human fate and with a case where all the leads points towards the past.

8 p.m. ”Kvinna med födelsemärke” (2001)
Chief commissioner Van Veeteren and his colleagues try to find the answer to why three men, apparently without any previous connections, are found shot dead. They slowly realise that the answer lies in the men’s past.

Lukas Moodyson’s critically acclaimed movie “Together” (Együtt) is about life in a Swedish collective during the mid-1970’s. Elisabeth decides to leave her violent husband Rolf and takes her daughter Eva and her son Stefan with her to go and live with her brother Göran in a collective, together with people with leftist sympathies. Elisabeth slowly gets accustomed to the new model of society, while Stefan continues to miss his father, and Eva starts seeing a boy from the house across the street.
