Scandinavian days at ELTE 22-24 April 2009

On the 22-24 April the Scandinavian Institute at ELTE will be arranging a book festival during the “Scandinavian days”; lecturers, authors and stage artists from Norway, Denmark and Sweden are invited. The following Swedish events will take place:

On Thursday 23 April, at 8 p.m., the Swedish movie “Det grovmaskiga nätet” (2000) will be shown. Sven Wollter plays the lead character as chief commissioner Van Veeteren in this movie, which is based on the Swedish author Håkan Nesser’s novel with the same title. “Det grovmaskiga nätet” will be shown in room 253 at ELTE, 1088 Budapest, Rákoczi út 5.

On Friday 24 April, at 11 a.m., the Swedish author Agneta Pleijel will be visiting the book festival to deliver a speech and sign her books. This will take place in room 030 at ELTE, 1088 Budapest, Rákoczi út 5.

On the 26 April the Swedish movies “Återkomsten” and “Kvinna med födelsemärke” will be shown at Skandináv Ház Alapítvány, VII. Klauzál tér 4. Sven Wollter plays the lead part as chief commissioner Van Veeteren in both movies, which are based upon the Swedish author Håkan Nesser’s novels about the police in the fictitious town of Maardam.

Lukas Moodyson’s critically acclaimed movie “Together” (Együtt) is about life in a Swedish collective during the mid-1970’s. Elisabeth decides to leave her violent husband Rolf and takes her daughter Eva and her son Stefan with her to go and live with her brother Göran in a collective, together with people with leftist sympathies. Elisabeth slowly gets accustomed to the new model of society, while Stefan continues to miss his father, and Eva starts seeing a boy from the house across the street.
