Changed rules of importation of tobacco products to Hungary from third countries

The Embassy would like to remind all travellers travelling to Hungary from countries outside the EU (third countries) about the changed rules of importation of tobacco products to Hungary, which have been in effect since 1 January 2009:

If you are travelling by road, rail or water from a third country you are allowed to import:
40 cigarettes, or
20 cigarillos, or
10 cigars, or
50g of tobacco for consumption

If you are travelling by air from a third country you are allowed to import:
200 cigarettes, or
100 cigarillos, or
50 cigars, or
250g of tobacco for consumption

    Lukas Moodyson’s critically acclaimed movie “Together” (Együtt) is about life in a Swedish collective during the mid-1970’s. Elisabeth decides to leave her violent husband Rolf and takes her daughter Eva and her son Stefan with her to go and live with her brother Göran in a collective, together with people with leftist sympathies. Elisabeth slowly gets accustomed to the new model of society, while Stefan continues to miss his father, and Eva starts seeing a boy from the house across the street.

    At the beginning of March, the first part of Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s Millenium-trilogy – Men who hate women – will be published in Hungarian by Animus Publishing in Budapest.
  • Feb 17 2009 Swedish independent band on tour in Hungary
    IMMANU EL is a young Swedish band whose debut album “They’ll come, they come” was released in 2007 to rave reviews. Swedish newspaper METRO described the band as “One of the biggest Swedish pop-hopes right now.” IMMANU EL will tour extensively in Europe during 2009, and their eagerly expected second album will be recorded this summer.

    The Swedish writer of Hungarian origin Gellert Tamas will be the guest of the Artistic Director of the National Theatre, Róbert Alföldi at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, 4 December 2008. His documentary novel, Lasermannen (The Laser Man – A story about Sweden) was published in Hungarian this year.
