Cancer Forum- a seminar with prominent Swedish specialists

The 12th of February, the Greek company Care Life together with Swedish Global Hospital arranged a seminar in Athens concerning healthcare across nations borders. Several Greek cancer doctors attended to learn of this network which unites experts, surgeons and hospitals worldwide.

With invited specialist from Uppsala University Hospital, among them professor Göran Åkerström, the progress in fighting cancer and the possibilities for patients to get the best treatments the world has to offer were presented. These treatments can be found in Sweden for, among others, pancreas cancer. Many patients from Sweden and abroad is therefore treated at the Uppsala University Hospital.

The Swedish ambassador Håkan Malmqvist initiated the forum with a speech regarding the challenges and the outlooks for the export of healthcare and mentioned the free market within EU and the importance of research and entrepreneurship.

- Regardless of country, it is from research and entrepreneurship that the future successful companies in the life-science sector will grow. In many cases these companies are so specialized that a national home market is far too small. This poses challenges for politicians on a European level. The obvious way ahead is to regard the EU as the home market, the ambassador stated. We need to formulate European policies in such a way as to promote export from day one. Thus we have to combine forces within a European context to further enhance the common market in the health care and life science sectors, said the ambassador.

The seminar were held at the Athens Plaza and there to represent Global Hospital were Claes Mörlin and Johan Wikander.

The event was held at the Swedish residency with around 40 guests, mostly from Greek media, with some special invited children from 4 months of age up to 1 year. Potties, baby carriers, travel beds and babysitters covered a large part of the residential terrace and were closely examined by the guests. Discussions came up not only on baby products, but also on quality and safety for children and adults. Many appreciated the specially made test baby sitters for adults that BabyBjörn brings to exhibitions and different events. These were exact copies of the original and were greatly used later on.
