Sweden disburses USD 1,5 million for drugs

Following a request from the Ministry of Health, the Swedish Embassy has made an extraordinary disbursement to Crown Agents for the management of Medical Stores Ltd (MSL). MSL is the main organisation responsible for the distribution of donor-funded drugs and medical supplies in Zambia.

The Ministry of Health has developed an Action Plan with corrective, preventive, and structural measures to ensure a transparent and accountable functioning of the MoH and to restore confidence between the donors and MoH.

This Action Plan has been presented to Sida and other donors and is now awaiting formal approval at headquarter levels. We expect a decision on both the Action Plan and possible resumption of funding in August.
