Security Council debate on peace and security in Africa

The UN support for the African Union (AU) peacekeeping operations was the topic for the UN Security Council debate on Monday, October 26. The Swedish Ambassador, H.E. Mr Anders Lidén, delivered a statement on behalf of the European Union in which he underlined that the European Union will continue its commitment to develop the partnership with both the UN and the AU respectively.

H.E. Mr Lidén also pointed out that the EU supports a similar endeavour between the UN and the AU, and sought after a stronger triangular cooperation between the three organisations.
