EU underlined need for change of EU scale of assessments

"A fair and more balanced way to share the budgetary responsibilities of the United Nations is essential to the effective functioning of the Organisation", said Ambassador Anders Lidén, at the introduction of the scale of assessments for the regular budget in the UN Fifth Committee on October 5. The EU firmly believes the regular scale for the period 2010-2012 should better reflect Member States' actual capacity to pay, taking into acount changing weight in the global economy.
