Passing of Guy von Dardel

Guy von Dardel, half-brother of Raoul Wallenberg, passed away on 28 August 2009 in Geneva. von Dardel fought tirelessly up until his death to shed light on the fate of Raoul Wallenberg. His efforts have been invaluable. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will pay homage to von Dardel at his burial on 3 September. The Ministry for Foreign Affairs will be represented by Ambassador Marie-Claire Swärd Capra, Permanent Mission of Sweden in Geneva.

The International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, together with the Jerusalem Working Group, recited Kaddish for Mr von Dardel at the Western Wall on 1 September 2009. The International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation said that reciting Kaddish for a non-Jew is indeed an uncommon gesture, yet backed by Halacha.
