On Thursday night a cheerful celebration party in the honour of the new Swedish Cultural Counsellor, Ms Helene Larsson, was held at the Cultural Centre GRAD in Belgrade.

In her new capacity Ms Larsson opened the Belgrade Light Festival by turning on a switch which represented the beginning of the festival and the continuation of a deeper cultural cooperation between Serbia and Sweden. During the night more than a thousand of guests entered the cultural centre, strolled by the lightning installations and continued to dance under the flashes of the yearly Belgrade of Light festival.

The ambassador of Sweden Krister Bringéus welcomed Helene to her new position at the Embassy and pointed out that Sweden has cultural counsellors in Washington, Tokyo, Berlin, Paris, Moscow, Brussels and London, and continued that adding Belgrade to that list tells a lot about the interest that Sweden has in an exchange between Swedish and Serbian culture.

The Belgrade Light Festival, organized by the Cultural Front in Belgrade, is taking place between 10-17 September. It is a festival dedicated to light, a platform for creative innovations, experiments, artistic and professional discussions and idea exchange on the subject of lighting.
