The Sami People
‘The Native Spirit Festival is an annual season of films, talks and performances promoting the Cultures of Indigenous people’. Sweden is respresented by the Sami.
Liselotte Waistedt´s animated documentary Sami Nieida Jojk is a road movie into Samiland and the director´s return to her Sami roots. Herdswoman, directed by Kine Boman reflect the life in Sapmi by three generations and the transition from nomadic existence to modern society. Spirits for Sale is directed by Folke Johansson from Sweden but deals with the issues of the indigenous people of North America. The film is followed by a Round Table Forum where Folke Johansson and co-director Annika Banfield take part.
